How can our client’s existing P2P communication services be translated and extended to the big screen?
As applications migrate from the PC to the TV quickly, our client wanted to protect their leadership position in P2P communication by moving to this new platform and establishing a significant presence on the “big screen”.
In order to do this, we designed concepts looking at how their current PC offerings could translate to the TV. We were asked to answer two key questions: What should the big-screen experience be for their existing offerings? And what compelling big-screen communication experiences can we develop that clearly fit the client’s existing brand and mission?
We discovered that the needs and instances of use for audio/video/text communication through the TV were very different than through the PC and mobile. In order to get consumers accustomed to the service, our client needed to focus on providing great tools for special occasions first; the everyday use would develop afterwards.
Our client used our insights and deliverables to engage manufacturing partners to ensure that the 2012 cycle of their offering for TV provide a user experience that meets both consumers’ needs and their own business objectives.
